Search for the Demon Horse [FITD, Steed & Steel]
A downloadable adventure
This is a 3-mission adventure for Steed & Steel, an upcoming Forged in the Dark system based in a fantastical early middle ages epoch in the style of Beowulf, Arthurian legends, and the Witcher 3 video game.
In the Dunnbar Valley, horses are magic; yes, donkeys, mules, pegasi, and unicorns too. Magical steeds and the knights who ride them are often tasked with dangerous missions around the valley.
In this adventure, the knights and their steeds are commissioned by a local noble to find, capture, and tame a wild Nightmare for his son’s 18th birthday one week hence. A significant amount of gold and prestige is on the table, but can the party bring themselves to tame a new mother and give her to a heartless brute of a man? Play to find out what happens in “Search for the Demon Horse.”

Hello there! I just bought the pack for the playbooks and they all look great! This is a weird ask, but I am currently running a FitD game that went a bit wobbly and the Crew found themselves in a medieval jousting tournée - would Steed & Steel have a laid out ruleset for such an occasion? I know it is still being developed but if something you feel comfortable sharing exists it would be tremendously helpful!
Hello! I had contemplated a tourney aspect but hadn't gotten very far yet. Best thought I had so far are linked clocks-- one for each player/horse and a rival/representative of the other competitors. Fill player clocks as established, and fill linked rival clocks as consequences and devil's bargains. Cutting between players and their chosen activity (jousting, jumping, barrel racing??, dressage?, cross-country) will keep the tension high.
Thanks for this! Would you allow other player to interject with these clocks? Say, another player having a flashback to poison the rival's steed, or one to infiltrate the stands and distract the opponent at just the right time?
Sounds like a teammate assistance action for 1 stress!
From Blades:
"You can normally get two bonus dice for your action roll (some special abilities might give you additional bonus dice).
For one bonus die, you can get assistance from a teammate. They take 1 stress, say how they help you, and give you +1d. See Teamwork, page 134."
